I am directed to inform you that shorti, after the President and Vice-President of this Company interviewed Sir John Shuckburgh at the Colonial office un January 27th last, a circular letter (copy attached) was issued to the various British Companies owning properties in North Borneo requesting them to acquaint us with any information received relative to losses sustained by reason of "denici" measures.

The replies received indicate that in nearly all cases the companies have received no information on this subject from their managements in North Borneo.

The North Borneo Trading Co.Ltd., whose launch "J.R.PHILLIPPS" was sunk on December 27th by order of the local Government vide the Governor's telegram to the Secretary of state dated December 31st - have stated that the value of this steamer at the time
